PELs - How to maximize impact with your PEL responses

Post-Event Letters (PELs) are a valuable tool for staff to understand what’s working well in the game and what aspects you, as a LARPer, truly enjoy. Whether the questions remain the same or change from event to event, your responses are always appreciated and serve as a highlight for the team.

LARP Portal supports staff by offering searchable reports by question or keyword, making it easier to analyze feedback and use it for future planning.

Be sure to check the PEL due date on the Event Summary page. Most games allow about two weeks (sometimes two weeks and a day) to submit your PEL and still earn points. While submitting on time is ideal, many games will still accept late submissions—your feedback is always welcome!

Here are a few additional tips to help you maximize the impact of your PEL:

1. Complete a PEL – your voice matters.

  • Whether you're playing a PC or NPC, submitting a PEL is your opportunity to share constructive feedback and highlight memorable moments from the event. It gives the staff insight beyond what they experienced firsthand and helps shape future games.

2. Be specific – details make a difference.

  • Mention specific people, scenes, or encounters and explain why they stood out to you. You don’t have to write a novel—but if you do, most staff will happily read it! Even a short explanation can help create deeper storytelling and allows staff to pass along kudos to the NPCs or players who made your experience special.

3. Don’t wait until the last minute.

  • LARP weekends can be exhausting, and it's easy to forget details. Try jotting down quick bullet points right after the event to help you remember key moments. If time slips away, even submitting a basic outline is better than nothing—some PEL is better than no PEL.

4. Add to your PEL later if needed.

  • LARP Portal includes a helpful “Add a PEL Addendum” feature. If you're short on time when the deadline hits, you can still send in additional thoughts afterward. Don’t hesitate to use it to expand on your feedback later!
